Event format

The Veteran Games National Finals are Australia’s premier military-inspired team competition for Veterans. Across two days, teams from around the country will compete in demanding physical and tactical challenges that showcase the values of purpose, community, service and excellence, while bringing veterans, families and the public together in celebration of Australia’s contemporary Veteran community.

Competitors will be required to compete as a team of 10, taking on the Obstacle Course, military inspired events, problem solving events + more, alongside a family festival area & spectator attractions.

Saturday 24th October & Sunday 25th October.

Form your team of 10. Limited to only 25 teams.

Team Captain must register the team & team name first.

Veterans Participation Requirements

Any person who has served within the Military is eligible to compete in the Veteran Games.  Competitors may be former or current serving personnel, Australian or overseas. 

Below are some recommendations for teams to best prepare for the competition.

Clothing Requirments

  1. Camouflage pants (your choice)
  2. Boots or shoes (your choice)
  3. T-Shirt or Team Shirt (your choice)
  • A Competitor may only register to compete in one team & must be a current or former serving military personnel.
 
  • Competitors and Reserves may be substituted throughout the Veteran Games at the discretion and tactics of the Team via the Team Captain through the event Staff PRIOR to the commencement of a competition activity.
 
  • You will be allocated your competition time slot post registration.
 
  • Each team must elect 1 Team Captain who will be responsible for managing their Team registration, Team check-in and Team communications during the Veteran Games.

  • Stretcher Carry
  • Rope Climb & Descent
  • Swimming 50m in clothes
  • 20kg – 50kg equipment carriage as single and pairs
  • Obstacle Course fundamentals – Walls, cargo-net & more
  • Knotts
  • Basic First Aid – Tourniquet, Splints, Bandage applications
  • Tire-flipping technique
  • Shuttle run / short sprints
  • Stores carry 100 – 200m

Insurance

We have obtained Public Liability coverage to ensure the safety and protection of all attendees. Additionally, we require all stalls and vendors to have their own Public Liability insurance and provide proof of coverage prior to the event to further mitigate any potential risks. We also highly recommend obtaining insurance for yourself to help mitigate potential risks and safeguard against any unforeseen circumstances. These could include:

Personal insurance can help protect against liabilities and unforeseen accidents that may occur during the event.
Travel insurance can provide coverage for unexpected events such as flight cancellations or medical emergencies.

Cancellation policy

If for some reason, including Force Majeure, the Veteran Games must be cancelled, all competitors and supporters will be notified immediately. Registrations will automatically carry forward to the following year and full refunds will be provided to any competitors that choose to withdraw as a result of the event cancellation. Further information will be provided specific to this in the extremely unlikely event of such an occurrence.
